Sojung Jang MSc (she/her/hers)

Sojung was born and raised in South Korea and completed her master’s degree in social psychology at the London School of Economics. She identifies as an Asian, cis-gender, and heterosexual woman. As a researcher, she is curious to explore the complex interpersonal layers of multicultural romantic relationships. Before coming to IU, she researched issues related to multiculturalism and social justice in Sogang University, South Korea. Currently in the Race and Relationships lab, she has been part of the HEaRT, ADMIRe, and RESPEC+ projects. She has a lot of passion for research and has experience in various areas including data collection, interview process, data analysis, and manuscript writing.

Sojung is particularly interested in understanding the vulnerabilities of romantic relationships that may arise when multiple races, ethnicities, and cultures are involved, and how such dynamic affects people’s mental health. Her current EI (early inquiry) project explores microaggression and its effects on the relationship and sexual satisfaction within interracial romantic relationships. Her future research questions also include the impact of partner’s microaggression on one’s cultural identity, work performance, and internalized racism.
