It all begins with an idea.

Race and Relationships is the manifestation of the vision of Dr. James E. Brooks. It is a curation of resources including, academic papers, books, blogs, and media that take a critical perspective on the influence of race in interracial relationships and multiracial families. Under Dr. Brooks’ direction, Race and Relationships showcases the work of his research team as well as that of other scholars. The content of Race and Relationships reflects the personal values of its creator in that there are multiple ways of knowing and that truth of experiences can be found in many places. As such, posts to the blog are as likely to reference journal articles as they are books meant for popular consumption or popular media. At its core, Race and Relationships is a collection, a resource, a tool for research and catalyst for community.
