Jahlea Douglas (she/her/hers)

Jahlea Douglas is a fourth-year undergraduate student at Indiana University Bloomington, pursuing a major in Counseling and Student Services and minor is in Human Sexuality through the School of Education. Embracing her multifaceted identity as a Black, Mexican, Puerto Rican, cis-gender, and heterosexual woman, Jahlea brings a rich perspective to her academic and personal pursuits.

As an undergraduate student, Jahlea has spent her time actively engaged in research and academic coaching. Collaborating with Dr. Brooks and the Center for Research on Race and Ethnicity in Society, she conducts research on interracial couples, contributing to Race and Relationships’ HEaRT and ADMIRe projects. Her commitment to advancing understanding in these areas showcases her passion for fostering inclusivity and cultural awareness.

Beyond research, Jahlea has dedicated three years to the Student Academic Center, where she has served as an academic coach. In this role, she empowers students to set and achieve their academic and personal goals, making a positive impact on their educational journeys.

Looking ahead, Jahlea has set long and short-term goals for herself. In the short term, she aspires to secure acceptance into a Mental Health Counseling master’s program. Her long-term vision involves establishing a private counseling and coaching center with a focus on interracial relationship dynamics and life transitions.

Jahlea’s journey exemplifies her dedication to education, research, and the holistic development of individuals. As she continues to navigate her academic path, she will continue to make meaningful contributions to the field of counseling and create a positive impact on the lives of those she serves.
